The excitement around the end of school is always something you can feel in a school building. The teachers and students, though they love one another and enjoy learning together, are ready for a break, or renewal process. Renewals are an important time to reflect on where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going. Currently, there is a renewal going on in Catholic Education.
How do we raise children who want to be Catholic adults? An recent Catholic Herald article addressed this topic. It cited a study showing only 15% of kids raised in Catholic homes are continuing in their Catholic faith. Despite the alarming findings, the study also provided some good news for families, and some suggestions.

Happy Feast of Saint Andrew! This feast day signifies the end of Ordinary Time in the church and the start of Advent. We have placed an icon of Saint Andrew on our school altar, and are serving Swedish Fish as a treat for students taking hot lunch, because he is known as a fisherman. He is also known for being one of the first disciples called to follow Jesus. On the school blog today, Mr. Waech explains the important lesson we can take from the life of St. Andrew, as we begin the season of Advent.

In 2006, a remarkable group of boys at Saint Frances Cabrini joined Cub Scouts. This year, seven of them, all from Troop 796, have become Eagle Scouts.
