This program is designed to give students an opportunity to explore their interest in STEM-related challenges (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) throughout building and programming Lego® Mindstorms® and EV3® Robots in a friendly and fun environment. Each year, we modify the program to improve the students’ experience in STEM.
Our robotics enthusiasts will also develop and practice teamwork skills such as Collaboration, Reliability, Respectfulness, Leadership, Creative & Logic Thinking, Communication and Problem Solving.
Based upon student’s interest and participation we can offer two program options:
(Green team) Focus on technical aspects of building and programming robots to complete missions created by the First Lego League®.
(Gold team) This program covers the same robot programming as the robot-only club, but in addition, the team will work to complete all aspects of the First Lego League® challenge culminating in an end-of-season tournament against dozens of other teams from across the state. This option is a larger time commitment and includes a project’s competition around the “Year’s theme”; learning the First Lego League® Core Values, and presenting their work efforts and outputs to a panel of judges.
In the 2018-2019, the SFC Boldt Robotics teams were top finishers at the Marquette sectional competition and advanced to the Mukwonago regional competition. Excitingly, one SFC Boldt team placed in the top 9 teams and was selected to advance to the final state competition in Feb 2019! As important, they were recognized once again as a winner of the “Gracious Professionalism” award. The team’s spirit, great teamwork, hard work and positive attitude were clearly noticeable to the judges.
Tournament dates are TBD at this time. If your child is interested in participating in the Boldt Robotics program, please complete the “Student” information form and return it back to team leadership.
Parents, we really need your help to sustain the team – and you don’t have to have STEM background to help. If you can assist in any way, please complete the “Parent” section of the form.
