Math Olympiads is a math team is open to all 4th, 5th & 6th grade students who love to work creatively to solve math problems. The team gets together once a week for during lunch where they use strategies and theories to solve problems and/or they practice for upcoming contests. The team participates in several monthly contests, which reinforce their math skills and often force them to think outside the box to solve these problems. These contests occur during the months of November through March.
The goals of Math Olympiads are:
To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics
To introduce important Mathematical concepts
To teach major strategies for problem solving
To develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems
To strengthen Mathematical intuition
To foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity
To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges
Math Olympiads is a program for students mainly in grades 5 and 6. A few 4th graders are invited to participate, but it is challenging for them.
